To say
To say that idealization is an illusion that inevitably leads to disappointment may sound pessimistic. But the spark of disillusionment has the ability to be a driving force, the fertile ground where new ways of inhabiting and relating can be planted. If chaos and destruction prevail, if there is no up or down, it is possible that the commitment to creation becomes obligatory. What came before didn't work, start fresh, there is an opportunity in the ruin.
Magdalena Trucco builds an Ark of Painting to navigate the Sea of Disillusion. In it, species gather to invent a better world of light and color. It is a refuge where one can take shelter, where we can reconnect and feel through color, learn from observation, and exercise the gaze that caresses and cares for.
Painting accompanies, teaches, and protects the artist. From there, it longs for the possibility of inventing communities that are vital, where there is a real connection with ourselves, with others, and with the web of life. A painting where life blossoms: ecological, communal, and personal.
